Crystal Sculpture

by Ferdi B Dick

I cast each piece in lead-free crystal, in small editions. Every surface is cut, ground, and finished by hand. I use the lost-wax method: prototype, wax, ceramic invest, controlled firing, de-mould, then long cold-work to refine, sandblast, and polish. The work is slow and technical so each sculpture reads cleanly from all angles.

I add metal oxides to the batch so the colour forms inside the glass, not on the surface. Thickness and the firing schedule change the final tone.

Light refracts better through crystal.

I work in crystal because it carries light. I cast in small editions so I can control every surface.

My aim is simple: a form that reads cleanly from all angles and a surface that feels calm in the hand.

Every piece leaves with my mark, an edition number, and a record of its casting process.

I start with a 3D prototype, cast a wax, build a ceramic mold, then cast crystal on a controlled schedule. After anneal, I de-mold, cut, grind, sandblast, and polish. The work is slow, technical, and done by hand.

Commission a crystal sculpture


I take on select commissions for private clients, interiors, galleries, and brands.

We define size, colour blend, and finish. I prototype, test colour, then cast in lead-free crystal.

Each piece is cold-worked by hand, signed, and documented.

Typical lead time is 6–12 weeks depending on scale and complexity.
